Key features included in MacWasher are:
• Ability to "Wash" Traces of Internet Use: The software can be set to automatically clean browser cache, cookies, history and other areas of a Macintosh that can be used to trace computer or Internet activity.
• Ability To Remove Temporary System Files: During the "cleaning" process, MacWasher removes unneeded system files and temporary files, which frees up valuable disk space and results in overall improvements in a computer’s performance.
• "Custom Wash" Function: This feature allows users to assign any files and folders to be cleaned.
• Automatic Cleaning: MacWasher can perform timed cleanings at specified intervals, or clean at system shutdown or start-up.
• "Bleaching" to DOD Standards: For added security, MacWasher can completely overwrite files with random characters up to 10 times. The overwrite method surpasses the DOD recommendations for sanitizing a hard drive of classified material. After running MacWasher with the "bleach" function activated, an item is rendered unrecoverable by utilities such as undelete and unerase.
